Fireworks at THE AMP

Meet Family and Friends on Lake Martin for Fourth of July
Lake Martin, Alabama is the setting for family fun with a boat parade, a concert and the southeast’s largest fireworks show.

Lake Martin, AL, June 18, 2010 – It’s summer on Lake Martin! The lake is full, the water is blue and everyone is having an awesome time.

Fourth of July Boat Parade
On Sunday, July 4, Russell Marine will host the 20th Annual Fourth of July Boat Parade beginning at 10:00 am at Kowaliga Marina on Lake Martin.

Boats of all sizes, shapes and decoration will "parade" from Kowaliga Marina to Children's Harbor circling just past the lighthouse, and then will make the return trip to the Kowaliga Marina. Onlookers line the shoreline and the parade route to marvel and applaud the colorfully decorated patriotic boats and contestants. Registered boats will be vying for top honors for the Largest Flag, Tallest Flag, Most Patriotic, and Most Creative. The first place winner in each category will receive a $150 Gift Certificate to Russell Marine and second place will receive a $75 Gift Certificate.

Everyone wants to be a part of the Russell Marine Fourth of July Boat Parade. Beat the crowd by registering today, or at least by July 3 at any Russell Marine marina: Kowaliga, The Ridge, Real Island and River North. Registration is free and you can get your form by calling 866-355-8050.

Fourth of July Blast - Concert & Fireworks
Then on Sunday evening join us on the soft grass at THE AMP (Lake Martin Amphitheater) as the sky over Lake Martin will be painted a thousand colors. Red, white and blue then gold and even magenta are on this year’s Fourth of July color palette. For ten years, Russell Lands, Inc. has hosted the fireworks over Lake Martin and this year is no different. The gates to The Amp will open at 4:30 and a concert featuring Rock Solid, Nationwide Coverage, and Homeland will begin at 6:00. Tickets are $15.00 and are available at Ticketmaster, the Adventure Center at Russell Crossroads, and will be at the gate on July 4th.

Grab your favorite lawn chair and find your spot early, you don’t want to miss Rock Solid. This band is made up of high school kids who audition for a spot and tour the week of the 4th. Featuring a full horn section expect music from Chicago, Gloria Estefan, The Beach Boys, and more. Rock Solid will take the stage at 6 pm.

As the sun slowly sets washing the sky a brilliant orange, Nationwide Coverage will take the stage. Nationwide Coverage is a dance-driven cover band with strong roots in 80's Rock and Motown. With female and male lead singers, the sky is the limit as to songs and styles they can play. Grab your dancing shoes and meet Nationwide Coverage in front of the stage and dance, dance, dance.

As darkness brings anticipation of fireworks yet to come, Homeland will make the hairs on your neck stand up while they make us proud to be Americans as they highlight our favorite patriotic songs concluding with our National Anthem and then the southeast’s largest fireworks show.

Don’t let the Fourth of July find you sitting at home this year. Find yourself on or near the blue waters of Lake Martin with your family and friends!

About Russell Lands
In 1834, Russell family settlers from England fell in love with a tract of land in central Alabama. The Russells’ love for the land continued throughout the years. Nearly 100 years ago, news came of a huge new lake that would soon meander deep into their beloved forest. The Russells could envision the hundreds of miles of beautiful shoreline encompassing Lake Martin and today they continue to brag about the 44,000 acres of deep blue water that surrounds the old Russell Forest. That place is Russell Lands On Lake Martin.

The company is one of uncommon vision, diversity and commitment to community - whose endeavors go beyond creating fine lake homes and communities.  Willow Point Golf and Country Club (www.willowpoint.com), owned and operated by Russell Lands, is one of the most revered private clubs in Alabama and considered to have the “most beautiful lakeside golf course” in the country.  Russell Crossroads, the new central town hub of Russell Lands On Lake Martin’s 25,000 acres of land holdings, is designed to reflect the agrarian era with period architecture of the 1920s promoting “walkability” of the town.  Today, the town consists of the Discovery Center, Catherine’s Market (www.catherinesatcrossroads.com) and SpringHouse restaurant (www.springhouseatcrossroads.com).

Russell Marine (www.russellmarine.net) offers boating enthusiasts world-class sales and service through four Lake Martin locations and is nationally ranked in the Top 10 Boat Dealers for the third consecutive year. Russell Do-It and Home Décor Centers in nine locations make it easier for homeowners to build and personalize the homes in which they live. In 1998, Russell Lands constructed the Lake Martin Amphitheater (www.lmat.org) - a unique venue for celebrating culture and the creative arts. And the company continues to serve the community through Children's Harbor - the not-for-profit organization created by Russell Lands Chairman and CEO, Ben Russell - whose mission is to strengthen children and families through a variety of programs, services and good works.  For more information, go to www.RussellLandsOnLakeMartin.com
